​If you are a photographer looking to dip your toes into the world of writing, and experiment with different ways of combining text and image to tell a story, then this is the class for you.
​
The course is taught by Writer and Photographer Sal Taylor Kydd.
​​SPECIFICS:
The class will meet on TUESDAYS, beginning January 14TH and wrapping on February 25TH.
Note that between second to last and last meeting
there is a 2 week gap.

Each meeting will include opportunities for critique of your images with the goal to explore ways to include text into your narrative. There will also be time for discussion and workshopping of your writing together with the rest of the class.
​
We will examine sequencing of text and image to create unexpected moments in your narrative. All forms of writing are encouraged from prose to poetry.
​
Sal will share with the class her own books and online projects where she has used a variety of approaches to bring text and her photographs together.
We will also look at other artists who successfully
combine text and images.
Sal will give you assignments between classes that will allow you to experiment with writing, as you tailor your creative process to create new conversations in your work.
This is a class for photographers looking to experiment with incorporating writing into their creative practice in combination with their photography.

We are also offering an online 'Text & Image level 2', and in Fall 2025 we are again travelling to Italy, for our yearly Creative Retreat with Sal.

You have 3 option of payment - please list your preferred payment method when registering for a class:
CREDIT CARD: you can make a payment directly from our website. There is a transaction fee (3 to 4 %) charged by Stripe that will be added to the tuition.
PAY PAL: For PayPal payments there is a handling fee of 6 % of the amount that will be added to the invoice.
INTERNATIONAL BANK TRANSFER: For bank transfer there is a transaction fee. Check with your bank for the amount, and make sure the transaction fee is not deducted from the payment for the class.

We need a min. of 4 participants to run the course.
TESTEMONIAL:
Creative writing is not my strong suit. I desire to write creatively, but it doesn’t come naturally.

Sal skilfully helped us dig deep within to pull out our truth. The work we produced was way beyond what each of us imagined we could do. When I began the class I had only a sliver of understanding of what the work I was doing was about. By the end, I had a complete narrative in mind. And the realisation that there was much more to this narrative than I had originally thought.

Withdrawal and refund policy:
Enrollment is limited in our classes, so once you have registered for a class – we are counting on you to attend. The registration is binding. We do however understand that sometimes plans fall trough and offer the following cancellation policies:
Withdraw more than 30 days before the start of class and we will refund all monies paid, minus an administration fee of NOK 1500,-. Withdraw 30 days or less before the start of class and we will charge you with the full workshop tuition.

NORDphotography is not responsible for cancellations due to medical emergencies.
Cancelation Rules:
For online course to run we need a minimum of five participants, unless otherwise noted in the class description. If we for some reason are not able to reach our minimum number, the class will be canceled and you will receive a full refund.
There will be a maximum of 10 students in each class, unless otherwise noted in the workshop description.
